Boob Racing
Seems too many of us are getting a bit flabby around the waist. Due to the rising costs of health care associated with this extra weight there are some groups looking to promote new activities to ensure a happy healthy populace. While many of the activities are mundane like manually changing the TV channel and getting your own beer from the fridge, some are truly new and exciting. Personally, I find the following demonstration quite exhilarating, don't you?

Breakfast Smoothies
For those who don't know, I have celiac's which means I can't eat anything with gluten in it. That means wheat and its various cousins, which leaves me with very few food options so I tend to eat the same old stuff again and again. Steak, chicken, cheese, veggies, rice. Not terribly exciting. So I have started making a smoothie most mornings so that I can eat healthier than I have been.
So here is my recipe, more or less. It varies tremendously by what is on sale.
The night before I fill up a cool whip tub with the following:
frozen spinach
frozen mixed veggies (corn, cauliflower, broccoli, whatever)
cherries
peaches
blueberries
blackberries
finely ground flax seed
I put the container in the fridge overnight then add it to 2 cups OJ and 1/2 cup of milk and then add an orange, banana, nectarine, or whatever is available to get the consistency right. Put it in a nice big insulated cup (has to hold 32+ ounces) and drink that over the course of the morning. I still need some protein but this otherwise satisfies my cravings and is surprisingly good. I don't notice the spinach and gets a lot of healthy food into my diet in a somewhat sneaky way. And I don't think my tastebuds have noticed just yet that I'm not popping snickers all day long.
Notes:
Some people suggest adding an egg to the smoothie. Prolly wouldn't taste it but I have little desire to try it.
If you use cauliflower, or lima beans for that matter, don't put in too much. It requires copious amounts of liquid and therefor doesn't play nice with the blender (unless you are lucky enough to own a BlendTec)

Green Day has gone retarded
Yes, thats right, retarded.
Seems Green Day is upset that Walmart will not sell their CD. Why? Because Walmart has a long standing policy to not sell ANY CD with a Parental Advisory warning on it. What Walmart WILL do is sell an album that was sufficiently edited so as to remove that PA label. And you know what? Radio stations do the same thing. They required edited version of songs so that words are removed in some form or another if it violates certain standards. So this isn't anything new. But Green Day doesn't want to "feel like [they are] in 1953 or something"
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt said: "As the biggest record store in the America, they should probably have an obligation to sell people the correct art." But do they have an obligation to sell it? GD wants to stay "true" to their art, but don't want that same freedom for others. I guess in Dirnt's mind, the artist has a right to be heard, but the responsibility falls on others to make sure that he is heard. Dirnt doesn't understand that a right does not work that way. A right encumbers no one except in that they not infringe upon that right. The proverbial my right to swing my arm ends where your nose begins. If Walmart has a responsibility to sell GD's music as GD sees fit, then what they have is not a right but a form of mastery over Walmart, placing them in a form of servitude, or slavery if you will. And requiring someone to take an action, in this case selling an item, is arguably worse than a prohibition against an action but I suppose that is a topic for another blog post.
The article ends by quoting Dirnt saying "It's like a game that you have to play. You have to refuse to play it." And in that he is somewhat right. It IS a game. There are no real rules, but the goal is to attract customer dollars and there are a great many teams in the game, all playing by their own rules. Colorado Jobs
Looks like the grocery unions in Colorado might be striking come May 9th. Kings and Safeway are about to start advertising for temp workers.
The unions lost out pretty bad the last time around (I know, I was working grocery at that time) and now looks even worse for them. Honestly, with the economy in the shape it is in the stores should have exactly zero problems getting their stores staffed. If the union strikes now they may just find that the grocers just stop dealing with them. But anyways, if anyone is looking for work, I suggest getting an application into Safeway or King Soopers on the double. It might only be for a short time, but any amount of money is good when you don't have a regular job.

Dino Blood and Protein recovered
Seems like Jurassic Park isn't such a far fetched idea. Seems that the scientist who recovered soft tissue from the T Rex in 2005 has not only duplicated it with an "older" dinosaur, but has had it independently verified by several other teams. The dinosaur, a hadrosaur, was excavated from "80 million year old rock" using sterilized tools and encased in glass for their trip back to the labs. You can see a short article in the New Scientist or in the May 1st edition of Science.

or soon will. There is no way that the people who wrote this article at the AP will have their jobs for much longer. Its a very good article, and is an example of what the AP should be doing.

I certainly hope that this week does not find you in the unemployment lines along with so many others since Obama took office. Maybe you can get hired on with an ammo manufacturer. Their business is booming (pun intended)

Congress controls the purse strings, not the president, and it was under Democratic control for Obama's last two years as Illinois senator. Obama supported the emergency bailout package in President George W. Bush's final months — a package Democratic leaders wanted to make bigger.
To be sure, Obama opposed the Iraq war, a drain on federal coffers for six years before he became president. But with one major exception, he voted in support of Iraq war spending.

Stun Gun suspected in death
Colorado Springs police officers are investigating the death of a man who may have been killed by a stun gun this morning. Apparently there was an altercation which lead to a taser being used.
I'm a bit confused by this. We are reliably told that tasers don't kill people. Its somehow always just a coincidence when someone dies after being tasered.
So how is it that there have been at least 405 coincidences so far? In fact, our very own police department has been noted for relying on them at much greater rates than departments of even significantly larger size than our own police force.
Questions questions.

Seven Seas Sabbath
Its not news to anyone who has been paying the slightest attention that the oceans are becoming over fished. Due to an ever increasing human population and a lack of ability to grow food like we do on land, (not to mention sometimes stupid and counter productive laws) we are seeing continually reduced population of some very important fish. Of course the call is for ever more government but it is undirected at best, and really doesn't address any of the actual issues.
The Bible addresses sustainable farming for the land by giving the land a periodic break as given in Leviticus 25:2-5 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD. Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: [for] it is a year of rest unto the land. Allowing this rest allows for renewal and refertilization of the soil as well as allowing the various insects and animals that naturally control pests and aerate the soils to do their necessary work. In fact this is a common practice in modern agriculture where the land will be divided into sections so that one field can lay fallow while the others are in use. This allows for the rest of the land, but still provides sufficient crops to provide the food required by the people.
I don't see a reason why this same principle cannot apply to the oceans. The idea would be to give each commercial fish species a sabbath every seventh year so that their numbers could be replenished. By allowing the fish to replenish their numbers would allow for sustainable fishing as well as healthier oceans and in the case of salmon, healthier rivers as well. Salmon return to the place of their birth to spawn at which time they die and then fertilize the rivers providing food for inland animals and even fertilization for the plants in and around the river.
An important element of this plan includes keeping the fisheries running and their people employed. It would require an occasional change in the type of fish brought in, which would likely require some additional equipment and certainly different techniques needed for a different crop. But as this change only needs to be on the seventh year there are ways that this could be gotten around by rotating the equipment and crew leadership. In this way the economic impact would be minimized tho certainly not eliminated.
This plan would require an international effort and would be its biggest challenge. The technical issues could be answered easily enough by a free market, but getting the various groups to hammer out such a deal? It would require fisheries, scientists and governments to agree on setting a schedule to harvest particular fish which may vary by locality e.g. Pacific or Atlantic. This would no doubt include environmentalists who, ironically, could be the biggest impediment to such a plan with their all or nothing mentality.
So there it is. I could flesh out my idea for setting up a Sabbath for the oceans but I think this lays out a simple enough foundation and a complete plan would require a vastly greater knowledge of commercial fishing than I care to ever have.

Personal Dress Code
I was asked the other day if I ever wear jeans. The answer is no, for several reasons. I wear cargoes and docker-style pants because I have found that the cargoes are more useful (extra pockets)they look dressier and an added benefit of being more comfortable. But there is more to it. People judge you based on your appearance. The part that is perhaps most important is that people perceive the value of your work to be greater (and therefore your importance to the company) when you are well dressed.
For example, Beach Bum Joe comes in flip-flops and Hawaiian shirts and puts out 100 widgets a day. You, dressed in slacks and wingtips puts out 90 widgets a day. From an empirical standpoint, Beach Bum Joe is of greater value to he company, but he will not be perceived as such. And until humans are no longer in charge of the decisions that perception will matter greatly. Especially since most of what we do in our modern economy cannot be quantified like widgets can.
So I have taken to trying to look nicer, wearing polos and full buttoned shirts. At the moment that is all that is required to be better dressed than most others in the office, but if this article is correct it might not be enough before long.

Roseanne Barr a jew?
I guess she fancies herself as one anyways. she has some rather interesting writings but not anything I would classify as Jewish. She also claims the name of Christ numerous times but from her writings understands nothing of the Son of Man so cannot be classified as a Christian either. Obama to push saturday school
Secretary of Education Arne Duncan told hundreds of Denver schoolchildren Tuesday that American school reform must include longer class days.
Duncan says reform proposals coming from the Obama administration will include longer school years, plus Saturday school and longer days.
Why not? Its worked so well giving them up to educrats, why not just give them up for even longer periods of time.
Of course the real reasons this administration will push this is to remove the parental influence over the children. As it is the influence is slight compared to the concentrated hours that school has to indoctrinate and then send the child home with hours of homework to keep them too busy to receive moral instruction from the family.
And more troubling is that when I mentioned that here at work, no one has the slightest problem with it. Seems that the demoralization exKGB agent Yuri Bezmenov warned us of in 1985 is complete, or nearly enough.

Obama: The Obamanable Foreign Relations
Obama was supposed to make us respected among the nations again. Hailed as the PR Savior (in addition to all-round Savior) the one who would restore relations with nations and peoples across the globe. His supporters were quite adamant about that. So lets see how the Administration has done.
The first item comes from appointee Hillary Clinton. Clinton attempted to "reset" the relations between the US and Russia by handing their government a red button with the word "Reset" on it. The problem is that the button didn't say reset, it said "Overload"
Hillary followed this up with a trip to China to beg them to continue buying our debt. It was successful, but only because the Chinese know that if we fall, economically, so do they.
Obama himself has snubbed the U.K. PM because he just had more important things to do than to tend to our closest ally.
Obama then refers to our ally "England" rather than the proper United Kingdom.
Next comes a huge social gaffe from Michelle Obama. While visiting the UK she placed her arm around the Queen of England. A large enough gaffe to brand a prior Australian Prime Minister, Paul Keating, as the "Lizard of Oz"
Next comes the most recent event, where Obama gives a full waist bow to the king of Saudi Arabia.

So if there is a methodology that seemed to have worked well for you please let me know. My boy already recognizes most of the letters and can draw a few. Just last night he drew a C and then turned it into a G for me (o=
Any tools, programs, videos etc would be appreciated.

Half-Baked Evolutionary Ideas
I rarely come across a site where the stupidity rises to such a level that I feel I must respond. One such site is www.ReligiousTolerance.org. This site pretends to be even handed, but puts up strawmen to knock down and makes Christians who actually believe the Bible look stupid. Unsurprisingly this organization cites TalkOrigins in several of their articles about science. The web page is put out by a group called Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance. Its members are a Atheist, Agnostic, Christian, Wiccan and Zen Buddhist. One finds elsewhere that the "Christian" is actually a Unitarian. As Unitarians deny the divinity of Christ they can hardly be considered Christian.
Having admittedly not read the whole site I thought I would point out some glaring examples. The first thing I saw was an assertion that the Karroo Formation contains 800 Billion fossils. 800 Billion. Now of course this number of fossils has not been excavated. Nor do the number of archeological sites indicate the excitement that would exist if there were indeed that many fossils. But lets go away from numbers that were postulated in 1932 (yes that is when that number comes from) and we find that the director of the Bernard Price Institute for Paleontology in Johannesburg estimates some 40,000 fossils have been excavated. As men have always congregated around water these graves are in the same places that we are today. Yet we do not find these bones, or at least not in the numbers that should exist. Paleontologists and anthropologists should be tripping over these remains and they should be about as exciting as a common rock.

They offer no evidence to backup this assertion, but I assume that they are talking about how in the fossil record the "older" rock contains smaller plants before it contains trees. But umm isn't that what we already see? Supposedly less evolved plants before more evolved plants? Hmm. How does that help them? Then throw in their next quote which really doesn't help their case at all. Its a bit out of context, but they grabbed it out of context so I will just bring it forward over here. "As we dug deeper and deeper beneath Thebes, everything would be the same; we would find hand axes, clams and dinosaurs mixed together all the way down." If they were mixed together, wouldn't that just negate their whole argument? Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I will assume that they either did not set up the quote or just chose a very poor section to quote from.

There is no such thing as a simple life form. Each one is uniquely suited to its environment and mission. The DNA/RNA and the enzymes that enable them to exist are such that even if you completely discount Intelligent Design you cannot discount the amazing amount of information that must be in place for life to exist. One of those enzymes considered "“absolutely essential” for binding RNA and DNA, speeded up a 78-million year reaction into thousandths of a second."

A Polystrate Fossil is one that goes through multiple layers of rock. If you have ever driven through the mountains or a canyon then you have seen how rock is set down in layers, sometimes strikingly distinct layers. Each of these layers is supposed to represent tens of thousands or even millions of years. But there are literally tens of thousands of polystrate fossils found the world over. They are usually both rootless and branchless and either laid down, standing straight (as in Spirit Lake) or even upside down. Some of these have actually been found to contain as many as 17 animals inside of them, always found at the bottom of the trunk of an upright polystrate tree. Actually, thinking upon Spirit Lake, we may well find that those trees will end up polystrate as well. With no normal vegetation in or around that lake the sedimentation rate must have increased tremendously.

China Testing the U.S.
China is again testing the U.S.
This current test comes at approximately the same time in the new presidency as the last test. This week China has been harassing a unarmed US Navy vessel, the USNS Impeccable. The Impeccable (what a name to live up to!) was mapping in international waters when Chinese ships surrounded and harassed a Navy mapping ship in international waters off China, at one point coming within 25 feet of the American boat and strewing debris in its path. The crewmen of the impeccable used fire hoses against that vessel as they are unarmed (where is the wisdom in an unarmed Navy vessel?)
Now some will point to this and say that China is rising and possibly trying to provoke an incident with us. I am not too sure of that. I think what they are doing is testing the new regime's response. This will indicate to the Chinese just how belligerent they can be in the region. By choosing an American target they can get a feel for how we will respond to their overtures towards neighboring countries, whereas if they tried this with say a Taiwanese vessel our response would be layered and take more time.
Now China is in a relatively better position vs the US than they were 8 years ago. Our economy is on the verge of collapse (who ever could have thought THAT might happen. Well, besides the Austrians that is) and we now have a significant portion of our military tied up in two little hell holes half the world away. Further the American appetite for armed conflict is nearly full. An action in the south pacific would not be looked on favorably. It could well be said that we must pass this test. I don't know just what that response should be as I am not a military man, nor versed in diplomacy. But one thing I can be sure of, is that I don't trust Obama and Hillary Clinton to be up to the task. Hillary as president would have be slightly better than the poser Obama, and McCain (much as I dislike him) would not tolerate such behavior so his response would likely have been better than what we will ultimately do.
Final thought: Is this the beginning of the event prophesied by Joe Biden? Should we be holding classes on "Loin Girding?"

Pentagon officials said the close encounter followed these other incidents last week:For those who don't remember the Chinese similarly tested George Bush in 2001 when their fighter jet, while harassing a US surveillance plane, collided with it forcing the surveillance plane to land in China. That happened in late March of 2001.
_On Wednesday, a Chinese Bureau of Fisheries Patrol vessel used a high-intensity spotlight to illuminate the Victorious, an ocean surveillance ship, as it operated in the Yellow Sea, about 125 nautical miles from China's coast, the Pentagon said. The next day, a Chinese Y-12 maritime surveillance aircraft conducted 12 fly-bys of Victorious at an altitude of about 400 feet and a range of 500 yards.
_On Thursday, a Chinese frigate approached USNS Impeccable without warning and crossed its bow at a range of approximately 100 yards, the Pentagon said. This was followed less than two hours later by a Chinese Y-12 aircraft conducting 11 fly-bys of Impeccable at an altitude of 600 feet and a range from 100-300 feet.
_On Saturday, a Chinese intelligence collection ship challenged Impeccable over bridge-to-bridge radio, calling her operations illegal and directing Impeccable to leave the area or "suffer the consequences."

This is what every employer — who these days is reluctant to hire and reluctant to promote and pay — is actually seeking. No more fluff in the workforce. No more fluff in fashion either.
So should I go with a fedora, or tin foil?

Church Shooting
Illinois pastor shot and killed during church service
One more reason to never go anywhere without a firearm. That firearm may not be able to protect you. Sometimes violence is simply too random or unexpected. But that firearm may just be able to save the life of another. One never knows, so one should take steps to always be prepared, because at the very least your preparation will mitigate the circumstances you find yourself in.

Pastor deflected first four shots with Bible.
Our dear commenter Briana thinks that more guns would lead to more violence. What it seems like to me is that after four shots from a .45 I would have had enough time to draw my gun and fire it. Instead of a dead pastor we WOULD HAVE HAD A DEAD ASSAILANT. Accidentally pressed the caps, but the emphasis is perfect. Churches are seen as Gun Free zones, or more accurately as a Victimization Zone. J. Neil Schulman made his book Stopping Power available for free in PDF format that addresses some of these issues. Mr Schulman made this book available for free after the Virginia Tech shootings, VTU being another Victimization Zone where people were unable to defend themselves and shot dead with a lowly .22LR pistol. Schulman rightly believes that wider dissemination of this information and its incorporation will save innocent lives. Lives like that of Rev. Fred Winters.
My advice to the Church. Grieve today. Prepare tomorrow. Don't let these crimes happen again.

Proposal to fix the Federal budget
I think I figured out Obama's plan to "half the deficit." See, everyone thinks he will do it by raising taxes or cutting spending. No. He is much smarter than that and has come up with a plan that has never been conceived of before.
Obama is going to nominate every tax cheating politician for some cabinet level position thereby forcing them to pay the same rate they would try to force on the populace. The latest is Ron Kirk who was nominated for U.S. Trade Representative. Now Mr Kirk's tab of only $10,000 is small fries compared to what Tim Geithner had to pay back. But Mr Kirk obviously is not as brilliant Mr Geithner who is touted as the only man "smart enough" to understand TARP, and just so happens to now be in charge of the IRS. If Mr Kirk was that smart he no doubt would now be paying a bigger payment (tho no penalty)
Before I digress too much, I figure if Obama just keeps putting these people up for cabinet positions then he will have found himself a source of revenue no previous President has ever even known to tap.
Now for some digression...
If Timothy Geithner cannot understand the 66,000 page tax code, and he is the ONLY man SMART ENOUGH to understand a single (out of the many) bailout program, just how is ANYONE supposed to be able to comply with the illegal tax code? 66,000 pages is more than the Bible, the Talmud, the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and the Apocrypha put together! However, studying these books would take a years of dedicated study, and the tax code is revised every single year thereby negating any understanding one had previously. I refer back to the SCOTUS Doctrine known as Void For Vagueness "A statute which either forbids or requires the doing of an act in terms so vague that men of common intelligence must necessarily guess at its meaning and differ as to its application violates the first essential of due process of law." I mean, if some super brilliant person like Geithner is unable to understand this code, how is some lowly person like myself who is only 2-3 standard deviations above the average IQ supposed to understand it?
BTW, its been 9 years and I STILL can't find a law requiring the average American to pay an income tax. Nor have I seen any SCOTUS ruling that overturns their numerous rulings stating that the 16th amendment "confers no new powers" to the Federal Government, nor their overturning of the 1894 income tax as unConstitutional. (Hint: if the 1894 income tax was unconstitutional, and the 16th amendment conferred "no new powers" then the 1913 income tax is every bit as unconstitutional as the 1894 version)

Dinosaurs
Today I took my boy to a Dinosaur museum, Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center to be exact. It's a neat place to visit and if you are traveling hwy 24 through Woodland park you can't miss it as there are colorful models of a T-Rex and a styracosaurus standing guard at the front of the building. If you go during the weekday you can also see the guys working in the lab as they remove bones from the rock and make casts.
After looking around for ourselves we joined in on a tour. Some pretty good information but I, as a creationist, took exception to one statement (tho I didnt argue it on the tour as the thought hadn't fully formed) The guide stated that the large Sauropodomorphids (the "long necks") were less advanced than "later" dinosaurs such as the hadrosaurids (including duck-bills) because the sauropodomorphids did not chew their food and instead used stones (like in a gizzard) to grind their food. Gizzards are a less efficient method than chewing, I am not arguing that point. To be honest I don't have knowledge of that myself but I can certainly agree to it.
The exception I take it that it is less efficient for a large beast, some of which weighed up to 110 tons, would find chewing more effective. If we drop it down to just half that and say 55 tons its really just a race to get food into the mouth and into the body. I can't imagine that there would be near enough time for a creature to chew the amount of food that would be required to feed such an enormous beast.
I do not know the calorie requirements of a dinosaur, and of course no one does. But I have seen stated that a reptile can survive on approx 10% the calories required for a similar sized mammal because of it taking on external heat rather than creating its own. Still this leads to a requirement of 220,000 calories a day for a 55-ton animal. And that is survival, not growing/thriving. The above number was reached at assuming only 2 calories/lb, which is the same amount of calories that is consumed by each lb of fat (in humans) each day. It would seem to me that the number for daily living would be somewhat higher but going with the number above that would equal out to be 500 McDonald's double cheeseburgers each day, or 50 an hour assuming 10 hours of eating each day. Of course these figures would all be doubled at a minimum for the largest of the Sauropodomorphids. Anyways, my point is that a gizzard would be a more efficient way of taking in and processing food when the intake is so high. One "might" even say an example of a perfectly designed creature.

Intriguing but I don't see how it is possible and I am not stating I hold this view, just throwing it out there for consideration. Some valid points are certainly raised with regards to leverage and mechanics. There are other statements in the link that are problematic. Maybe I will address those another time.
After looking around for ourselves we joined in on a tour. Some pretty good information but I, as a creationist, took exception to one statement (tho I didnt argue it on the tour as the thought hadn't fully formed) The guide stated that the large Sauropodomorphids (the "long necks") were less advanced than "later" dinosaurs such as the hadrosaurids (including duck-bills) because the sauropodomorphids did not chew their food and instead used stones (like in a gizzard) to grind their food. Gizzards are a less efficient method than chewing, I am not arguing that point. To be honest I don't have knowledge of that myself but I can certainly agree to it.
The exception I take it that it is less efficient for a large beast, some of which weighed up to 110 tons, would find chewing more effective. If we drop it down to just half that and say 55 tons its really just a race to get food into the mouth and into the body. I can't imagine that there would be near enough time for a creature to chew the amount of food that would be required to feed such an enormous beast.
I do not know the calorie requirements of a dinosaur, and of course no one does. But I have seen stated that a reptile can survive on approx 10% the calories required for a similar sized mammal because of it taking on external heat rather than creating its own. Still this leads to a requirement of 220,000 calories a day for a 55-ton animal. And that is survival, not growing/thriving. The above number was reached at assuming only 2 calories/lb, which is the same amount of calories that is consumed by each lb of fat (in humans) each day. New Hardware
Tuesday I decided upon a project with some of my pictures. I had been mulling over which ones to print out and work with and I had finally settled on several. I came home to find there had been a power outage. But not just any power outage. One that created a huge noise when the transformer blew up. Well, everything worked normally, except the PC of course. The PC wouldn't boot.
Lovely.
Wednesday night I got my hands on a power supply tester as well as a power supply from my sister's old pc. The PS tested just fine. Great! That means that the cheapest part to replace is fine. Thursday everything is closed so Friday I get to go out and buy new motherboard, RAM and CPU. Get it installed, and nothing. Still won't boot. Back to the store and got a new power supply and NOW it boots. Now I just need to get everything tweaked back to the way I like it and all should be good.
Oh, those pictures? Still can't do 'em. All my hard drives are older which means they all require IDE interfaces. New motherboards only come with one IDE interface so I can connect the DVD and one HDD. One more piece of hardware and I am all hooked up!
Oh yeah, Qwest... I could get a connection for 5-10 minutes after bootup then Qwest would boot me off. Got that fixed tonite too.
Two good things came out of this I guess. One is a faster computer (old was a single core 2 Ghz. This is dual core 2.7 Ghz) The other is the fresh realization that I don't need this stupid thing except for pictures.

Call To Dunkirk
Exodus Mandate is pushing their program "Call to Dunkirk" which is a 1 year push to get Christians, their Churches and their Organizations, to push to get their children out of the public schools and to quit "offer[ing] up our children as living sacrifices to the Molech of government schools." I have said this numerous times and will do everything in my power to homeschool my son as I will never willingly give my son up as a sacrifice to the false gods of this world. Please pass this info along to your pastors and rabbis that they too might take part in this.

Year End Donations?
If anyone is thinking of year end donations, or have ever wanted to sponsor a child, now would be a good time to look at organizations like World Vision and Compassion International. In addition to child sponsorships, World Vision also has other options such as providing clean water or animals which can help an entire family or even community. Also, please don't overlook the "Last Chance Kids" which are defined by being age 10 or over as people are more willing to sponsor the younger children. These children are at a critical age and will soon be making an impact in their community, for good or evil. Sponsoring them would have a greater impact quicker than a young child would.

Of Paul, the Election and the Meltdown
I am an unabashed supporter of the only Republican candidate who had the slightest clue of the coming Meltdown, as well as the only one with an answer beyond prescribing the patient more of the poison that is killing him. I even supported him financially, tho what I gave was indeed a pittance. (Not the widow's mites, but not much more.) I would truly have loved to see him competing in this sham of an election. But now I have perhaps a change of heart about the above. Some will call this heresy but hear me out!
As stated above, Paul is the only one with an answer. Paul's answer, of sound currency small government and fiscal responsibility, is not perhaps real popular with the markets and certainly not with the powers behind the market. A sound currency limits profit from ever increasing fractional banking and a system of derivatives that is many times larger than the economy itself. Small government and fiscal responsibility would end more than a few companies "free rides" that they receive in the form of contracts that pay far above what the market would otherwise bear.
Now the Meltdown is really the key factor in all of this. The question about this meltdown isn't that it was coming. Its been written on the wall for 95 years now. The question is, was this artificially brought to a head before the election? Normally the FED smooths things out for election years but this year it was either beyond their ability to do so, or they did not care to. The FED sat on rates a few times over the last winter when the markets were calling for cuts. There is also some evidence that JP Morgan Stanley withheld a large sum of money from Lehman Brothers that would have kept them solvent, rather than being one of the many casualties. One should note that this is not a precedent for Morgan Stanley, who did this at least once before, in the days leading up to the Great Depression.
Regardless of whether or not this was caused to happen before the election or it was just its natural timing I can be sure of one thing. The media would lay the blame for the Meltdown on Paul. They would give the public numerous stories about how Paul's sound currency beliefs and the dreaded "Gold Standard" were causing the markets such fits that everyone was getting out of the market before Paul took office. The constant harping that the Old Media is capable of would convince the public that it was indeed Paul's fault and they would run in the direction of the one whom the media would no doubt cast as an even greater man than they already cast the Obamessiah.
So that sums up the reason that I am glad that the Repugnicans did everything they could to keep the only informed candidate among them from the nomination. Paul's winning would have seen his name tarnished and his beliefs and those of our Founding Fathers.
In closing let me include a quote that I have put up on this blog before:

A difference in perspective
I was speaking with a friend who is a huge movie buff. We came upon the subject of horror movies (I don't like them myself. Like chick-flicks, they are too predictable) I have only seen one horror flick that I thought was worthwhile, The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Having had an encounter with the supernatural (two actually) I know that there is absolutely NOTHING scarier. My friend had thought that 28 days was scarier because it "could really happen."
Now, being a Christian and having no fear of EOTW scenarios (please note this is not the same as EOTWAWKI) I don't get much from "real" scenarios. Largely because I have faith that such things will never come to pass. Scarier by far is the fact that the spiritual realm is indeed real, and that we all dismiss it at our own peril.
There are things happening all around us, at all times, that were we aware of these actions it would truly change our lives. Angels, both Divine and Fallen, influence our daily lives, as well as world events. They seek to guide us, to Salvation or Death, towards the Light or away from Him.
On a somewhat related note, I came across a pre-release edition of Vox's "The War In Heaven" It was a good read, and I am now going to have to find the release editions of the entire trilogy.

Alright, one full week has now gone by. How many of you have done them every day so far?

The Final Solution
I HAVE IT!
I have THE answer to our problems!
I call it the Final Solution.
It goes like this...
Round up all 546 of our (DC) ruling class.
Take all the ones that are pro-abortion and administer an abortion upon them. We can then make a profit for the people by selling their bodies parts just like the "products" of abortion are sold today.
Take all the ones that are pro-war and take them up in a B-52 and drop them like bombs over Iran's nuclear facilities.
Take those who put the environment above people and end their life so that they can finally stop polluting Mother Earth. Then plow their lands and homes and turn them into national parks. Bonus points if we can use their bodies to fertilize these new parks.
Take those that are for militarized police force and place an anonymous call to their local SWAT team.
Take all those who would steal, at gunpoint, from one to give to another (for people or corporations) and go ahead and take, at gun point, all that they have and distribute that wealth.
Take all the ones that are for debt and endless inflation, confiscate their wealth and distribute it amongst the people and then throw them in the vats so that we can use their corpulent bodies to print more money.
If there are any left that have not been caught in the above sweeps, they are fit to rule and should be placed at the highest level of government that is not already filled.
A bit extreme? Perhaps. But a lot cheaper than a bailout package that will start out at 700 Billion ($700,000,000,000) and will likely end up costing WELL over 1 Trillion ($1,000,000,000,000)

What exactly is happening here? Its like we have a bunch of hoodlums in a glass house, who have all just ran out of rocks to throw. And here we are, seriously considering giving them MORE! Are we STUPID? Did they not do enough damage with the last truckload of rocks we gave them? Obviously some people up on the Hill have lost their marbles. Maybe we can round all those up and give THOSE to the hoodlums.
A bailout (which will no doubt pass despite the opposition of the public) will not fix the problem. At best it will simply push the pain off for yet another day at which time it will be even worse.Our financial house of cards has been built upon constant inflation, but you can only blow up a balloon so far before it bursts. And once it does, its irretrievably broken.
How about we start paying attention to REAL economic theories, instead of the ones that depend upon magic fairies and Hope™. How about listening to the words of those who have been warning of this day for the last few decades (Anyone remember Ron Paul?) There are answers. They aren't going to be painless, but pain is coming our way one way or the other.

Hindu Squats
The type of squat to use for LG is the Hindu Squat. Its apparently different than what most people think of when they think of squats. Done properly the HS is actually quite aerobic.
To perform an HS start off with your feet about shoulder width and your arms at your sides. Your arms will move in s somewhat circular fashion and will assist you in getting back up. From the standing position start to go down, bending only at the knees and bring your arms slightly behind you. When you get to the bottom of the motion, swing your arms in front and up, and bring yourself up with your legs so that your arms are horizontal to the floor at the same time as you get back up to the standing position.
This video gives a good demonstration. For the record, he does them faster than I do, so no worries if you find that you can't keep up. Mine look more like the slow motion ones in this video.
Its a pretty easy exercise that will give you some cardio and work on your legs and balance at the same time. And tho they are easy to do, they really are a good workout.

So here is the deal guys (and gals) I am issuing a challenge to all my readers.
Starting this Sept 23rd, LG: The Challenge begins.
What is LG? Its a small challenge to do two simple things each day, push-ups and squats. The Challenge is to do one of each per day, per day of the challenge. That means one pushup and one squat on day 1, and doing two of each on day 2, etc etc. The date was chosen to get us all to 100 of each by the end of the year.
The rules are simple:Increase the number of PUs and squats by one each day of the challenge Break them up in whatever grouping you are comfortable with. For example, on day 30 you could break it up into sets, perhaps doing 3 sets of 10, or 2 sets of 15 (or 30 sets of 1 if that works for you!) Perform the PUs and squats however you need to to get to the goal. Its about improvement, not doing them "right." If that means you do some or all of the PUs on your knees, so what?! Need a chair for an assist on the squats? Great! Just get them done. Again, improvement and habits are the goal here, not stressing out over what other people think.

Man loses eye
A Christian man who threatened to kill two women because they are atheists was injured trying to attack them and will lose an eye.
Russell Bowman showed up at the women's apartment with a large knife and was confronted by another resident with a shotgun. When Russell continued to advance, the butt-end of the shotgun struck his face and Bowman's eye will need to be removed.
And this is a shame! This man should be supported! DEATH TO THE INFIDELS!

Short -term physical goals
Perhaps these are not overly ambitious, but here are my goals for the end of September:

2 really IS better than 1!
A friend of mine came across a news item that she knew I would appreciate. You see, it turns out that 2 really IS better than one. At least when it comes to wives. The study looked at men older than 60 from 140 countries that practice polygamy and found that they lived an average of 12 percent longer than men from 49 monogamous nations, according to a report from the Times of India.
An interesting point, they looked at 140 nations, only 49 of them are monogamous? Our sensitive Judeo-Christian sense of propriety makes us think that monogamy is the norm, but it seems that it isn't. The study chalks up the difference in life span to the polygamous man having a greater reason to live. While that is possible I would suggest that a greater division of labor would also play a big part of the difference. A home requires X amount of work to maintain. X includes income from outside sources as well as upkeep of the homes via chores. Adding an another adult doesn't to the household doesn't mean that the work required is now X+X, rather it is X+Y with Y being only a fraction of Y. Furthermore there are more people to give upkeep meaning that each adult in the house has less to do than before.
The above affect could also apply to income. In modern, western, society the model has the man working a full time job, and often the wife has to hold down at least a part time job just to make ends meet. For simplicities sake, lets then assume that it takes 60 hours of outside income each week to maintain the household. If another wife was added who also worked 20 hours a week, this extra income would push them above merely the economic holding pattern that we see here in the West and is no doubt what others see across the world. Perhaps one of the women is particularly employable (or simply enjoys working) and the other wants to stay at home with the children? These are options available to a polygamous family which would likely reduce the stress placed upon each member, improving their quality of life.

Camping Trip #1
I took Lil Bear on an overnight camping trip friday night up at Mueller State Park. Mueller was a very large estate on the western flank of Pikes Peak that is full of gorgeous views, aspens and plenty of wildlife. You can find pics of our last hiking trip to Mueller here.
It was a last minute decision to go so I wouldn't say that I packed real well. Rather, I think I overpacked. Made it up there a little after 6pm on friday night and grabbed the very last camping spot. Got settled in and took off for some hiking. As it was getting dark we didn't head out too far or even take any trail smaller than an access road. But we did scare three deer (at least one buck) that scared us almost as much as we scared them. We hadn't seen them until they started running less than 30 yards from us and crashed thru the trees. After returning we laid out a blanket and snuggled up to look at the stars. We couldn't see a whole lot as there were clouds coming in and lightning brightening the sky. Turns out that the storm we were watching spawned a tornado at another popular campsite, Eleven Mile.
The morning brought clear skies and a happy boy. I attempted breakfast but burned it bad enough even I wouldn't eat it. So we snacked and headed out hiking again. This time we headed out on a single track and were treated to the site of a small turkey "family" of a mother and three half-grown chicks. We then scared a chipmunk that was racing back and forth across the trail gathering pine cones. We watched him for a while going back and forth, each time pausing briefly at the trail before dashing across. We finished up the trip with some time at the playground before heading back home.
All in all a wonderful trip and one that will hopefully be repeated soon.

When I become President
The post of at Astro's got me to thinking some of what I would do if I were President. Now of course, the Prez doesn't really have as much power as some think, altho certainly a lot more than the Constitution has granted the position, so I am going to try to limit this post and perhaps leave the other stuff for a post about when I become dictator.
Now the biggest, and rather undervalued, power of the President is the bully pulpit. The office lends great weight to what he says and his words are broadcast to every state, giving him the opportunity to be heard over the various members of the House and Senate. This would be my tool to push my agenda.
Monetary Policy:
My biggest legacy I would want to be that I had driven the bank out of this country. By bank I mean the Federal Reserve. Andrew Jackson is a huge inspiration in this, for he said to a group of international bankers "You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the grace of the Eternal God, I will rout you out." He was successful. So successful and proud of this accomplishment that he had "I killed the bank" written on his tombstone.
I would push for this goal in several ways, but largely thru two fronts. The first would be to legalize alternate currencies (such as Norfed's Liberty Dollar) the second would be to bully Congress in to auditing the Federal Reserve. Once those were accomplished I would push for abolition of the Bank. The legalization of alternate currencies would immediately place both citizens and business on a level playing field with just weights, something lacking today in our fiat dollar.
Foreign Policy:
As Commander in Chief this is one area that can immediately be affected by the President. I would put the Military to work on a plan to sharply reduce overseas deployments. Currently we have 700 bases in 130 different countries. I would reduce this number to 10-15 bases. Those bases would be kept in countries that have been long term allies/friendlies, are strategically placed around the globe for ease of rapid deployment and support, tactically defendable, and preferably combined with Naval bases (if we actually have any overseas? IDK) The staffing and equipment at these bases would be increased by a significant amount, 200+%, in order to provide the essentials necessary should the base ever need to be used.
We would return to the policy of Walk softly and carry a big stick. We would also start talking with our enemies again. It keeps channels open as well as other options other than "stick." And dialog between countries can lead to the two countries actually becoming allies (GASP, SHOCK! HORROR!) If we don't talk to them we cannot expect to resolve anything except by brute force. This doesn't work in personal or business life nor does such a policy work when used by nations. And besides, if talks fail to produce a result there is still always the stick. Our current administration is oblivious to that fact.
Military:
Going along with the above, there are some changes that would happen. The troops that are no longer needed overseas would be returned Stateside. The money saved, as well as money made from the sale of overseas property would be used for two things. First off, is full training. That means everything needed for training would be available to the troops. This includes bullets. There should never be reports of a lack of bullets for our troops to train with. The second thing that money would be put towards is funding the promises made to the military. This means PROPER medical and dental care. No longer would vets have to deal with substandard care in less than adequate facilities. That situation rather appalls me, altho it unfortunately doesn't really surprise me. The gov has been an "indian giver" on far too many of its promises. (More on that in a moment)
The drop in military consumption of oil from the above two changes would be at minimum 40 million barrels of oil. At current prices that is another $5+ billion/yr saved. No small chunk of change and would help fund the above.
Law:
Appoint judges that believe in the Constitution and will uphold it. Appoint an Attorney General that will ruthlessly prosecute corruption inside all branches of the FedGov. The FedGov must get its house in order before it can effectively go after corporations etc.
Borders:
Enforce them, period. All of them. While what to do with illegals once here really isn't the purview of the President, the security of the borders is. The extra military could be used for this purpose. Walls in some places i.e. cities, monitoring devices in other areas, and greatly stepped up patrols. This would also likely necessitate an increase in staffing levels of the Coast Guard, which also falls under the President IIRC.
Energy:
A little of everything. Work with OPEC, strongly encourage conservation, push for drilling stateside and also push/encourage local/individual production via small solar or wind generation even if it is only at the individual level.
Domestic Policy:
I would sign an Executive Order declaring personhood from conception and then watch thebaby-killerspro-choice groups scramble to try and deal with the ramifications from that.
Strongly encourage people to read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. In fact, I might even sign another Executive Order that the Bill of Rights be included with EVERY piece of mail the FedGov sends out, and every piece that any agency purporting to act on behalf of the FedGov sends out. Hold music would be replaced with recitations of key portions of these documents, particularly the Preambles.
Bully the Congress into repealing the unlawful, illegally enforced income tax. Stop the IRS from even operating (where it pertains to unlawful individual taxation) as they are under the executive branch. Sign an Executive Order repealing the vast majority of other Executive Orders, while signing another that requires Congress to include the portion of the Constitution that authorizes each and every bill they place before me.
And here is something almost never mentioned. The Indians. We took a philips head to these people and the treaties we made need to be respected. Treaties should perhaps even be remade with them, enabling them to govern themselves and support themselves while encouraging their people to not be dependent upon the US Gov.
Hmm, this was rather longer than I thought, and didn't cover enough subject. However, I think it covers perhaps the biggest of them. I don't think that such an administration would give Liberty/Constitution loving people much to complain about. So that just leaves the other 95% of the voting populace to bitch and moan.

Expanding Earth Theory
The other day I asked a colleague what he was listening to and it turned out to be video by some guy named Neal Adams talking about his theory of an expanding earth. Naturally I thought, hmmm theres a kook for ya. But hey, I am willing to listen to such things, even if only for entertainment value. So I opened up the youtube video and watched it for myself.
Well, any new idea that I come across that is interesting to me becomes a sort of compulsion to learn more. This can really suck sometimes like when a coworker makes some crazy statement like "I love lamp" (Thats from a movie, and no lamp is not an acronym. I know this now...) So I look more into this theory and find that it really does explain some of the things that we see quite well. In fact, it explains some of what we see FAR better than the current accepted theory of plate subduction, a theory which I have always had issues with so maybe in a way I was already primed for a different theory.
The things that the EE theory explains well are Subduction (which it states simply doesn't happen except in minor areas) Continental Drift, the creation of mountains, and rather discredits the Pangaea theory.
Subduction: Mr Adams explains that the crust on the ocean floor is 2-5 miles thick on average and in order for subduction to truly occur the entire several miles would have to go essentially straight down into rock that is heavier than it is. Straight down because the continental plates are much deeper then the ocean plates. Adams also points to the map of the ocean floor (rather extensively) which uses core samples and dates NO part of the ocean floor as greater than 180 million years old. That is an odd thing if the earth is truly billions of years old.
Continental Drift: EE posits that the continents have drifted, not because of floating plates, but rather they are caused by rifts in what is now the ocean floor. These rifts are where magma is forced up and out of the core and literally pushes the older plate aside. EE states that this caused the breakup of the continents and has moved them to their current locations. This seems, to me, a better explanation of why we find fossils of tropical flora and fauna in Antarctica than current accepted theory.
Mountaining: Current theory teaches that mountains are created when plates collide and the crust buckles upwards, while at the same time one crust rides over the other. EE gives an alternate explanation. The growth of the earth has led to a "flatter" earth. By this I mean the the curve is no so great as it once was. This can be demonstrated by simply looking at two balls of differing size. A piece of tape placed on the smaller one will have to curve more than it would on the larger. So EE explains that this re-curving causes the continental plates to wrinkle or buckle, which results in the creation of mountains.
Pangaea: This of course is the theory that all the continents were one in the past. It is so easy to see that anyone can match them up and see that they link up almost like a puzzle. However, a rather large problem with this theory is that the entire worlds landmass being on the one side would give one side of the earth a much higher mass, meaning the center of gravity would shift. Water, always seeking the lowest place, would then shift to essentially cover Pangaea, actually leaving a part of the far side of the world high and dry. That certainly puts a bit of a damper in the whole evolution thing. After all, land animals don't evolve very well underwater. But what is really interesting is that the continents don't just line up on one side. They line up across the Pacific too! How does the Pangaea theory explain that? It doesn't. It doesnt even attempt to.
The problems with th Expanding Earth theory? Really only one. Where does this extra landmass come from? I haven't gotten to a satisfactory answer yet. And maybe there isn't a real satisfactory answer altho I intend to look for it. Now, some expansion is perhaps a very logical explanation. After all it doesn't take much imagination to see the core as being more dense and under great pressure and pushing some of that material upwards, thereby expanding the planet. But at some point it should come to a sort of equilibrium. My guess off the top of my head would be to say no more than 10% expansion by such a mechanism before it isn't possible. But that isn't what this theory posits. EE teaches that the expansion can be 100% or more from the original planetary size. A standard nickel-iron core simply wouldn't be able to create such vast expansion.
At the moment I am in my research on this, it seems they may believe in a plasma core (I am not certain on this) as well as energy thrown off from the sun. The idea of a plasma core is interesting and I haven't thought enough upon the idea or its implications to state on way or another. Just how energy dense is plasma? How dense is the plasma at the Earth's core? Since plasma is simply another state of matter, how much matter can that plasma create? What other ways might a planet have of gaining size?
Many questions at the moment, and I am not ready to believe it, but I must say that some of the evidence for it is compelling. Check out some of the animations that Neil Adams has produced. This animation of a moon is quite neat and it shows the rifts being closed and the land matching perfectly. These rifts are where magma is forced up and out of the core and literally pushes the older plate aside. EE states that this caused the breakup of the continents and has moved them to their current locations. This seems, to me, a better explanation of why we find fossils of tropical flora and fauna in Antarctica than current accepted theory.
Mountaining: Current theory teaches that mountains are created when plates collide and the crust buckles upwards, while at the same time one crust rides over the other. EE gives an alternate explanation. The growth of the earth has led to a "flatter" earth. By this I mean the the curve is no so great as it once was. This can be demonstrated by simply looking at two balls of differing size. A piece of tape placed on the smaller one will have to curve more than it would on the larger. So EE explains that this re-curving causes the continental plates to wrinkle or buckle, which results in the creation of mountains.
Pangaea: This of course is the theory that all the continents were one in the past. It is so easy to see that anyone can match them up and see that they link up almost like a puzzle. However, a rather large problem with this theory is that the entire worlds landmass being on the one side would give one side of the earth a much higher mass, meaning the center of gravity would shift. Water, always seeking the lowest place, would then shift to essentially cover Pangaea, actually leaving a part of the far side of the world high and dry. That certainly puts a bit of a damper in the whole evolution thing. After all, land animals don't evolve very well underwater. But what is really interesting is that the continents don't just line up on one side. They line up across the Pacific too! How does the Pangaea theory explain that? It doesn't. It doesnt even attempt to.
The problems with th Expanding Earth theory? Really only one. Where does this extra landmass come from? I haven't gotten to a satisfactory answer yet. And maybe there isn't a real satisfactory answer altho I intend to look for it. Now, some expansion is perhaps a very logical explanation. After all it doesn't take much imagination to see the core as being more dense and under great pressure and pushing some of that material upwards, thereby expanding the planet. But at some point it should come to a sort of equilibrium. My guess off the top of my head would be to say no more than 10% expansion by such a mechanism before it isn't possible. But that isn't what this theory posits. EE teaches that the expansion can be 100% or more from the original planetary size. A standard nickel-iron core simply wouldn't be able to create such vast expansion.
At the moment I am in my research on this, it seems they may believe in a plasma core (I am not certain on this) as well as energy thrown off from the sun. The idea of a plasma core is interesting and I haven't thought enough upon the idea or its implications to state on way or another. Just how energy dense is plasma? How dense is the plasma at the Earth's core? Since plasma is simply another state of matter, how much matter can that plasma create? What other ways might a planet have of gaining size?
Many questions at the moment, and I am not ready to believe it, but I must say that some of the evidence for it is compelling. Check out some of the animations that Neil Adams has produced. This animation of a moon is quite neat and it shows the rifts being closed and the land matching perfectly. Resumption of Posts
Seems I haven't posted in a while. Well, it doesn't just seem that way, it IS that way. Too much self censorship has rather thwarted my desire to post. But the blog isn't truly dead. Just on life support once more.
I saw a bumper sticker the other day that left me wondering "Well, what are they for then? The sticker said "Animals are not for us to eat, for us to wear, for us to experiment on or to use for our entertainment." I guess I will never be a friend of this PETA but that I would fit in quite well with this one!
The rafting trip is on for this year! W00T! Res has the info up on his blog. For a recap of last year's trip see here. Looks like we will have quite a bit more people this year, as well as two days of whitewater instead of just one.

My Next Thirty Years
Oh, Happy Birthday to me!

For my thirtieth I took my boy out kayaking. I've never been and I've had this kayak up on my wall for just over a month now so it was nice to get to use it finally. Destination: Lake Pueblo. Temperature: Just shy of perfect. 1st Mate: The One, the only... Lil Bear! Doesn't get much better than this!
The lake is 15 feet above its level 1 year ago so the fishing area where we launched was basically, no, entirely gone. We launched from what was left of the road in a protected bay and paddled off over the now submerged trees and uncharted, for us, territory. In all we spent about 3 hours on the lake, exploring the coves, watching ducks, getting really close to the the "hills" with exposed strata, visiting the marina and playing in the waves. For a short period of time the wind really kicked up and was giving us 1-2 foot swells and the kayak handled those extremely well. Its good to know it handles well and its fun to send spray all over when heading into the wind. I'd post a pic or two, but for whatever reason my camera isn't uploading. Looks like a reboot is in order.
Lil Bear thoroughly enjoyed himself (as did I), sticking his hands in the water and playing with some driftwood as well as watching the other boats on the water. We made a close pass to a sail boat and were able to say hi and show my boy how they work.

They have been subverting your children for years and now are becoming more blatant and "hardcore." They are now advocating violence, drugs and getting "busy in a Burger King bathroom"

Looks like we are heading into Iran.
The resignation of Admiral William Fallon as US military commander in the Middle East probably signals a Bush Regime attack on Iran. Fallon said that there would be no US attack on Iran on his watch. As there was no reason for Fallon to resign, it is not farfetched to conclude that Bush has removed an obstacle to war with Iran.Of course, this is only to "spread democracy" throughout the world, nothing at all to do with the Iranian oil bourse.
The US is already over stretched both militarily and economically. An attack on Iran is likely to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

The Divorce Pill
The Elusive Wapiti's post on "The Divorce Pill" got me to thinking.
If it is true that a woman on the pill will be attracted to someone she isn't compatible with (too similar) because she is on the pill, then when she goes off the pill she is no longer attracted to that person, then it would seem to me that a woman who was attracted to a man but later goes on the pill would find herself in the same state. Or, to appropriate a quote from the article "On a subconscious level, her brain is realizing a mistake was made—she married the wrong guy," he says.
Its funny, in a twisted way. The woman who goes on birth control in order to have more sex with her significant other may well find herself less attracted to him, perhaps even turned off. All due to a wonderful little pill that is now in our water supply.

Miscellany
The blog isn't dead, just on life support.
I spent soooo much time online in the past 9 months that I am bored with the web. Plus cabin fever has well and truly set in, and this slightly warmer weather is making it even worse! Its not yet warm enough to do all the things I want to do. The high country is still under snow and ice and will be for some time. As an example, Eleven Mile lake is under 30-36 inches of ice. The trails, which often get little or no sun, aren't safe for hiking with a two year old. But the days are getting longer. It wont be too long before outdoor activities can be done daily. Till then I guess the time change will have to do (I love it happening so early! Makes the day so much nicer)

Abortion Post
My previous post was a satire of the whole abortion issue. But I was trying to bring up the absurdity of the arguments made by the pro-choice crowd. The main argument, of course, is that it is a woman's "right" to do with her body as she pleases. This same argument never applies to other things a woman might decide to do with her body, such as prostitution or drugs, no matter how logical the connection is.
A post of at Triton's (IIRC) got me to think on this. The scenario given there is that if a man came aboard your boat after being stranded at sea, you would have an obligation to see him to some point of safety. It need not be where the refugee preferred, you need not go out of your way to drop him off, but you have a moral and legal obligation to take him to safety. Doing otherwise would be, rightly, considered murder.
But I think there is a better analogy and it is as stated in the previous post. My example below is to drag a person against his will (kidnap) to a place where he can be legally killed. Taken against his will and his life terminated against his will. This is precisely what is happening with an abortion.
In the act of sex two intelligent adults are making a conscious decision to participate in an act that is expressly designed to create a child. This is done with knowledge, willfully and intentionally. When that child is then created it is the woman who makes a knowing, willful and intentional decision to end that life. That child, of course, cannot be asked if he approves of such a decision. The question now must be asked, what is the logical decision a child would make? Is it likely that the child would choose death? Is there any other creature that chooses death over life? Yes. They are insects who give their life to mate. I suppose one assumes they know this will happen. Maybe not. They are insects after all. But no mammal chooses death. And humans are mammals so we must assume that the child would also have a natural bias towards saving his life. In fact, there is a video floating around on the net that shows an ultrasound of an abortion of a very young fetus and that child moves away from the abortionists tools. This is evidence that indeed a child does have the bias towards life shared by all mammals.
Therefore, seeing as there was an intentional decision* to bring about a child, the act of abortion is, in fact, murder.
* Of course people will say they didn't "mean" to get pregnant. But there is a very simple solution to the whole accidental pregnancy issue. Don't have sex. It really is that simple.
